A month after winning the English Under 25 Championship, rising star Jake Sowden will take the next step in his meteoric rise by joining superstars of the LIV Golf League and the very best of the Asian Tour at International Series England this week.
The 20-year-old garnered an invite to the star-studded event at Foxhills Club & Resort after a three-round total of eight-under gave him a one-shot victory at Woburn Golf Club, the 11-time home of the Women’s British Open.
Sowden now takes his chances against some of the world’s finest, having won multiple England Schools and England Golf County tournaments across his short career to date, including the England Schools Championship in 2022, the England Golf Men’s County Finals with Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Amateur title in 2023.
In addition to this superb win at Woburn, Sowden shot a course-record 62 to finish tied-4th at the renowned Berkshire Trophy, a tournament won by legends of the game such as Sir Nick Faldo and Sandy Lyle, as well as numerous DP World Tour players.
After winning the England U25 Championship, Sowden, who plays out of The Oaks (Yorkshire), has earned the opportunity to play on the international stage alongside LIV Golf’s top talents Harold Varner III, Branden Grace and Kieran Vincent at International Series England.
When asked about the opportunity to play amongst the big-name players, Sowden said: “It is such an honour, especially to be wearing the England Golf badge. It’s an amazing experience and hopefully in a few years I can be playing regularly on The International Series and the Asian Tour.
“Coming off the win at the England U25 Championship, I felt ready to go. It has always been a dream of mine to represent England in such a big event, so I’m really looking forward to the week ahead at Foxhills.”
